2007 Young Audiences National Conference
Young Audiences, Inc., is hosting its annual national conference in Cleveland, Ohio, on April 26-28, 2007. The conference theme is "trAnsfoRmaTionS," and arts integrated education specialists will be converging in Cleveland from all over the United States to learn about innovations in using the arts to help students attain academic achievement.

The conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency at the Arcade in downtown Cleveland, and several other locations, including Jacobs Field (home of the Cleveland Indians), Severance Hall (home of the Cleveland Orchestra) and the Cleveland Botanical Gardens.

AGENDA HIGHLIGHTS:
Thursday, April 26th
6:30 – 10:30 p.m. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame – Opening reception; Terry Stewart, President & CEO

Friday, April 27th
8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Hyatt Regency – Sir Ken Robinson, Keynote Speaker
12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Jacobs Field Terrace Club – Aaron Dworkin, President, The Sphinx Organization, Keynote Speaker
6:00 – 10:00 p.m. Severance Hall – Cleveland Orchestra Reception and Concert; Franz Welser-Most, music director, Richard Sortomme, composer; and Gary Hanson, executive director

12:00 – 1:30 p.m. Cleveland Botanical Gardens – Panel Discussion moderated by Aaron Dworkin (From Classical to Hip Hop – Music Education for the 21st Century)

KEYNOTE SPEAKER HIGHLIGHTS
The first keynote speaker is Sir Ken Robinson, a senior advisor for education policy at the Getty Foundation in Los Angeles, and a recognized expert in the development of creativity, education and training. Sir Ken will speak on "Out of Our Minds: Learning to be Creative" at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 27th, at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade, 420 Superior Avenue.

At 12:00 p.m., also on April 27th, Aaron Dworkin will speak on "Breaking the Sound Barrier: The Sphinx Organization and Music Education." Mr. Dworkin is an accomplished electric and acoustic violinist and the founder of The Sphinx Organization, whose mission is to overcome the cultural stereotype of classical music, and to encourage the participation of Blacks and Latinos in the field. Mr. Dworkin's presentation will take place at the Terrace Club of Jacobs Field in downtown Cleveland.
